The Rainbow Machine: Tales from a Neuro-Linguist's Journal

The Rainbow Machine: Tales from a Neuro-Linguist\'s Journal
A delightful read! Outrageous, funny, insightful, and touching. You'll enjoy it from start to finish. Packed with experiences from his background working in hospitals, social work, to private counseling practice, Andrew T. Austin shows how NLP can be anything but boring.

"A fascinating book of amusing and sometimes outrageous vignettes, using NLP language patterns, submodalities, and what one might call 'NLP provocative therapy.' A delightful collection of stories, thought pieces, and teaching that cast light into what NLP has to offer the field of psychotherapy and psychiatry. If you have an interest in the field, it will give you insights; if you have no interest, then read it just to enjoy the inevitable laughter."
-Julian Russell, Senior Executive Coach and co-author of Alpha Leadership: tools for business leaders who want more from life.

"Most books about therapy could just as well be prescribed as sleeping pills. And they often sit unread by the side of therapists' beds, after they have plowed through the first jargon-laden chapter or two. Not this book! Andy Austin's Rainbow Machine will have you laughing, gasping in horror and awe, and wishing like hell that you lived close enough to him to get an appointment. He is the British Milton Erickson."
-Bill O'Hanlon, author of Change 101 and many other books about brief therapy.

NLP Client Session: Weight Loss, using Metaphors of Movement

What do you do when you "hit a plateau" in losing weight or making a change? In his uniquely creative and provocative style, neurolinguist and clinical hypnotherapist Andrew T. Austin helps this client explore her "plateau" metaphor in detail, providing her with a range of new behavioral choices.

In the Advanced Mastery Training DVD set, Andrew Austin teaches much more about his Metaphors of Movement model, what keeps people stuck in chronic problems, and his Integral Eye Movement Therapy. Highly recommended for Master Practitioners who want to take their skills to the next level!

"This is the most interesting book about therapy I've read since Jay Haley's Uncommon Therapy."
-Steve Andreas, author of Six Blind Elephants, and co-author of Heart of the Mind.

(Please note that a few chapters include some swearing. Given the range of clients Andrew Austin was working with-some in trouble with the law, some very distressed, this was sometimes an effective way to meet the person in their world, and/or get their attention. This meeting was the first step in making change possible. Our apologies, if anyone finds these offensive.)

5 of 5 Stars!Anonymous Reader, 04/07/2011
Andrew T Austin is an inspiring therapist, trainer and author who "keeps the mind shaking, rattling & rolling long after Elvis has left the building" (James Geray). When I was given this book, I quickly realised that I had found the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. What a roller coaster ride of tales! With so many notes striking the keyboard of the imagination! Simply brilliant! Psychotherapist/Counsellor.
